What is VERASENSE?
VERASENSE is a wireless sensor-assisted device used in total knee replacement (TKR). The disposable sensor device is used by your surgeon, and it transmits data about your knee during surgery which supports your surgeon’s decisions about implant positioning and soft tissue adjustments, with the goal of improving your knee balance.
How does VERASENSE help today’s total knee replacement challenges?
VERASENSE helps your surgeon to improve soft tissue balance and customize implant position during TKR. Improper soft tissue balance can affect post-surgery pain, instability and stiffness, which can lead to premature implant failure and revision surgery.
How does the use of VERASENSE change my surgical procedure?
The use of VERASENSE works with your surgeon’s usual surgical workflow. The use of this sensor-assisted device does not influence what type of implant design is right for you.
What is the lifespan of a total knee replacement using VERASENSE?
VERASENSE is not an implant. It is a disposable sensor that is used one time during a TKR procedure. TKRs have a life expectancy that depends on several factors including, but not limited to, the patient’s weight, activity level, quality of bone, and compliance with physician’s orders. Implant position and the balance of soft tissues during surgery are very important factors that can affect the life expectancy of a total knee replacement. Use of VERASENSE during surgery supports your surgeon to improve knee balance and customize implant position with the goal of improving patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Am I a candidate for VERASENSE Sensor-Assisted TKR?
